Finding Therapy Ltd

Terms & Conditions

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern the use of the services provided by Finding Therapy Ltd ("we", "us", or "our") via our online platform. By booking therapy sessions with a self-employed therapist through our platform, you (the parent/carer/legal guardian, referred to as "you") agree to these Terms.

1. Our Role

Finding Therapy Ltd is a referral and platform provider. We facilitate access to therapy services, manage booking and payment systems, and provide a secure online environment for therapy sessions. We do not directly provide therapy. All therapy is delivered by self-employed, qualified professionals ("therapists") who are independently responsible for their clinical work.

2. Bookings & Payment

  • You book and pay for sessions via our online platform.
  • We process payments and pay the therapist their agreed portion.
  • Session prices are set individually by therapists and clearly displayed before booking.

3. Cancellations & Refunds

  • You may cancel or reschedule a session with at least 24 hours' notice for a full refund.
  • Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice are non-refundable, regardless of reason.
  • Sessions are delivered online via video call; failure to attend a session due to technical or personal issues (without prior cancellation) is considered a late cancellation.

4. Waiver of Cooling-Off Period

  • When you book therapy through Finding Therapy, you agree to waive your right to the standard 14-day cooling-off period under UK consumer law. This means you will not be able to cancel and receive a full refund simply because you’ve changed your mind.
  • You can still cancel any individual session with more than 24 hours’ notice and receive a full refund for that session, in line with our cancellation policy.

5. Therapist Responsibilities

  • Therapists are self-employed and professionally insured.
  • Therapists are responsible for all clinical decision-making, safeguarding actions, and note-taking.
  • All clinical complaints or concerns must be addressed directly with the therapist.
  • If unresolved, you may escalate a complaint to the therapist’s professional body (e.g. BACP, UKCP). We can provide contact details upon request.

6. Confidentiality & Safeguarding

  • Therapy sessions are confidential. Parents/carers will not have access to clinical notes. Therapists may discuss anonymised case material with a clinical supervisor or counselling colleague to ensure safe and effective care.
  • Therapists may contact a parent/carer if a safeguarding issue arises. If they believe a child is at risk, they may contact the GP, school, or children’s services. They will usually inform the parent/carer first unless they believe doing so increases risk.
  • Parent/carers are expected to act as the main safeguarding contact. If a therapist recommends safeguarding action and this is not followed, it may raise further concerns.

7. Technology & Privacy

  • Sessions are held via our secure video platform using your device’s camera and microphone.
By booking, you understand that your child’s image and voice will be transmitted online (but not recorded).
  • Therapists will deliver sessions from a private space, such as their home or office.
  • Session notes are stored securely for 8 years or until your child’s 25th birthday, whichever is longer.
  • The platform is GDPR-compliant. Personal data is handled according to our Privacy Policy.

8. Emergencies & Crisis Support

  • Finding Therapy is not a crisis service.
  • If you are concerned for your child’s immediate safety, contact 999, your GP, or NHS 111. For emotional support, you may contact Samaritans on 116 123.
  • Therapists will make emergency decisions based on professional judgment, which may include contacting emergency services.

9. Parent/Carer Responsibilities

  • By giving consent, you confirm that you hold legal parental responsibility and are acting on behalf of all others with parental responsibility.
  • You must ensure your child has privacy for sessions and that you are contactable in case of emergency.
  • You are responsible for accurate disclosures in the referral form, including medical and safeguarding history.

10. International Clients

  • While our service is based in the UK, clients outside the UK may book sessions.
  • Not all therapists are insured to work internationally. If a therapist cannot proceed with a session due to location restrictions, we will assist you in finding an alternative.

11. Termination of Therapy

  • Therapists may end therapy if they believe it is not in the child’s best interest to continue.
  • You may end therapy at any time, subject to the cancellation policy.

12. Changes to These Terms

  • We may update these Terms occasionally. The most current version will always be available on our website.
  • If you have any questions about these Terms, please contact support@findingtherapy.co.uk
